Jenis Kapal Terbang
Ringan daripada udara ( lighter than air)
Berat daripada udara (heavier than air)

Air Cabin Crew
Air cabin crew
- Hours30-40 per week
- Starting salaryRM 42,000 + per year
If you like meeting different people and enjoy travelling, this could be ideal for you.
As an air cabin crew member you would help make sure that airline passengers have a comfortable, safe and pleasant flight.
You will usually need to have a good standard of basic maths and English. But entry requirements can vary between airlines, so you should check with them directly.
Air cabin crew members need to have a polite but firm approach when dealing with difficult customers. Excellent ‘people’ skills are really important, as is the ability to work as part of a team.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
The work
Before a flight you would:
- go a meeting about the flight and schedule
- check that there are enough supplies on the plane and that emergency equipment is working properly
- greet passengers and direct them to their seats
- demonstrate emergency equipment and procedures to passengers.
During a flight you would:
- make sure that passengers are comfortable and deal with any requests
- serve food and drinks, and sell duty-free items
- make announcements on behalf of the pilot
- reassure passengers in the event of an emergency, and make sure that they follow safety procedures.
At the end of a flight you would:
- make sure that passengers leave the plane safely and with all their hand luggage
- write a flight report, including about any unusual incidents
- add up and record food and drink orders, and duty-free sales.
Between flights, you may have some spare time to relax and explore the destination you have flown to.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Hours
You would work shifts that include weekends, nights and public holidays. The amount of time you would spend away from home would vary depending on the flight routes that you work on.
You would be expected to be neat and smart, and your company would provide you with a uniform.
The work can be physically demanding, as you would spend a lot of time on your feet and work in small spaces like the kitchen galley. Bad weather could make it uncomfortable in the aircraft.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Entry requirements
Entry requirements can vary between airlines so you should check with them for exact details.
In general, you will need a good standard of education, including GCSEs (grades A-C) in maths and English, or equivalent qualifications, and previous experience in a customer service role.
You will also need:
- a good level of fitness and colour-normal vision
- a smart appearance
- the ability to swim well
- a valid passport with no restrictions for the countries the airline travels to.
You must be over 18 to work as an air cabin crew member, although some airlines set the minimum entry age at 21. Height and weight requirements also vary between airlines, so check this carefully with them. As a general guide, many look for people between 5ft2in (157cm) and 6ft2in (188cm). In addition, you should not have any visible tattoos or body piercings.
Some airlines look for air cabin crew who can speak a second language and this will be essential if you want to be based in an overseas location.
Airlines will normally use a combination of assessment tests and interviews (group ones and individual) when recruiting staff.
Although not essential, there are several college courses that could help you gain useful skills for this career.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Skills, interests and qualities
To become an air cabin crew member, you will need to have:
- excellent 'people' skills
- a confident and friendly manner
- tact and discretion
- a polite but firm approach when dealing with difficult customers
- a clear speaking voice
- the ability to work as part of a team
- calmness under pressure and in emergencies
- sensitivity towards people who are anxious or upset
- good maths skills for handling cash, including foreign currency

Mari mengenal Airbus
So, how can you get to know and remember your aircraft types, quickly and easily? In this new series of articles, we take a look at the most popular commercial aircraft in use today and how you can spot the difference! Here is a quick beginner’s guide as to their description and how you can identify between them…
The Airbus Family
Airbus is an aircraft manufacturer based in France and produces half of the world’s commercial aircraft. It is known for its ‘fly by wire’ technology (computerized flying rather than manual) and the most popular A320 commercial aircraft as well as the new A380.
A318 - A stubby short aircraft, a shortened version of the A320 but with a tall tail! It has a single aisle and 2 engines and has arrow winglets on the wingtips. There are two main exits and one overwing exit on each side. It can hold approximately 100 passengers and can fly short to medium range flights up to 5,700 km.
A319 – The ‘baby bus’ is a slightly shortened A320. It has a single aisle and two engines and has arrow winglets on the wingtips. There are two main exits and one overwing exit on each side making it easy to identify from the A320. It can hold approximately 125 passengers and can fly short to medium range flights up to 6,650 km. The economy seat configuration is 6 seats across with the aisle through the centre.
A320 –The A320 is one of the mostly widely used commercial aircraft in the world. It is similar in size and capacity to a B737 but more modern with fly by wire technology in the cockpit. It has a single aisle and two engines. There are two main exits and two overwing exits on each side, making it easier to identify from the slightly smaller A319. It can hold up to 150-180 passengers and can fly short to medium range flights up to 6,150 km. The economy seat configuration is the same as the A319.
A321 – The A321 has a long body and is a stretched version of the A320. It has the usual single aisle, economy seat configuration of the A319 and two engines of much of the Airbus family. It has eight main exits and no overwing exits making it easier to identify. The two centre exits on each side are slightly smaller than the front and back exits. It can hold between 180-220 passengers and it suited to short or medium range flights. It can also be identified by its two four-wheeled main landing gear.
A330 – The A330 is a twin aisle wide body aircraft with two engines, making it easier to recognize from the larger A340. The economy seat configuration is usually two seats, aisle, four seats, aisle, two seats across but this depends on the airline and is suited to medium or long range flights. It can hold between 250-300 passengers depending on class seat configuration. There are four main exit doors each side of the aircraft and there are no overwing exits. Depending on the model it can travel between 7,400 and 13,430 km.
A340 – It is a long range/ultra long range aircraft with twin aisle and a similar seating configuration to the A330. It has a long body and has four main exit doors on each side of the aircraft. It has four engines and a double landing gear with four wheels, which makes it easier to identify from the A330, which looks very similar! It can hold between 260-360 passengers depending on the class configuration and has a range of 12,400 – 17,000 km.
A380 – The double decker aircraft and currently the largest passenger aircraft in use! It is wide bodied and has four engines. It can accommodate 555 passengers in a three class configuration with twin aisles and seating pattern of 10 seats across separated by two aisles in economy. If the aircraft was all economy it can provide 853 seats! There are a total of 16 exit doors. It also has a 20 wheel main landing gear. It has a flight range of 15,700 km – a distance of New York to Hong Kong for example.

Tips of the day : 5 Tips for the Cabin Crew Interview
2. Questions and Answers Session
Stay Relevant
You really have to listen to the question, and answer the question, and answer it concisely. Always stick to the question you were asked. Don’t stray away from the discussion or the interview questions and move to irrelevant and unrelated answers.
Provide Examples
You can say you can do something, or you can give examples of things you have done. Prepare in advance some examples and answer the questions in specifics not in generalities. You can say ‘Yes, I have done that before. Here is an example of a time I did that… Did this answer your question?’
Be Honest
Dancing around difficult interview question is not a good technique. If you don’t have a skill, just tell the interviewer so and don’t try to cover it up by giving examples that are not relevant. You are better off if you tell them that even if you maybe don’t have that particular skill, you might have some related skills and you can tell them about those if they like.
3. Your turn to ask questions
When the interviewer asks you if you have any questions for them, do not be silent. Prepare in advance couple of questions or ask any questions that may have resulted from the information exchanged during the interview.
By asking relevant smart questions you show you enthusiasm and interest in the company.
4. What’s the next step
Unless it has been clearly explained before the cabin crew final interview, you need to know exactly what happens next in the hiring process. Try to establish the time frame for a hiring decision to be made and who you should get in touch with to follow up the status of your application. Should you phone or email? Clarifying this information not only lets you know what is happening but also shows the interviewer that you are professional and organized.
5. Thank the interviewer
Sincerely thank the interviewer for the time spent with you. Give a firm handshake and make eye contact when doing this.
Being successful at your cabin crew final interview is all about confidence. Confidence comes from being prepared. You are on your way to success, trust that!

Tips of the day : 5 Tips for the Cabin Crew Interview
1. Body Language
The little signals that we unconsciously send to the people we interact with show how you are feeling at that certain time and what you are really like. We can decode somebody’s body language better than anything else, so pay attention to it.
Posture
• Sit upright, but not too stiff in your chair – this shows that you are comfortable and confident.
• Lean slightly forward – this shows you are interested and involved.
• Very slightly tilt your head to one side – this shows you are friendly and open.
Hands
• Rest you hands loosely clasped in your lap or on the table.
• Do not touch your face – touching your nose or lips can indicate that you are lying.
• Do not elevate your hands above the neck – this shows that you are nervous and annoyed.
• Do not cross your arms across your chest – this shows a defensive attitude.
Legs
• Cross your feet at the ankles or place both your feet on the floor – this shows a professional and confident look.
• Control your leg movement – shaking or bouncing your leg shows nervousness and is distracting.
• Do not rest your leg on top of the other knee – this is perceived as arrogance.
Tone of voice
• Breathe and pause before answering questions.
• Vary your tone and pitch.
• Smile and nod at appropriate times, but do not overdo it.
• Do not laugh on your own – laughing along the interviewer is more appropriate.
• Always use words to answer questions. Don’t reply just with nods and head shakes.
Don’t forget!
• Get plenty of sleep the night before the interview. Yawning in front of the interviewer suggests boredom.
• Don’t consume alcohol the night before, and avoid spicy or garlic rich food as these may taint your breath.
Stay tuned for the next tips....

What are the advantage of being Cabin Crew?
1. You get to see new places. It is a bit like a free short holiday. Fully paid! Now not many jobs
can beat that.
can beat that.
2. You meet new people, experience different cultures, and even pick up many words from different languages!
3. You can tell everyone you are a cabin crew - many people see it as a glamorous job.
4. You can bag yourself a rich pilot or a rich man from first class! Need I say more?
5. You will have a lot of free time (however you will often need to stay at home as you will be on standby, but it's still good if you are studying)
6. You don't work with the same people/cabin crew/pilots every day. So if you dislike someone you can avoid them sometimes for months!
7. You do not have to worry about what you are going to wear for work, you will have a uniform.
8. Some airlines even pay for your accommodation, so you can spend your salary on whatever you want (clothes, clothes, make-up, clothes).
9. When you are on a 'real' holiday, you can get your holidays for a cheap price as most airlines offer to their workers discounted or free tickets, and in many places you can get great deals just because you are a cabin crew!
